Therapy Casting

We are casting for a brand-new BBC television series that takes us inside the treatment rooms of some of the UK’s leading therapists for the first time to demystify what therapy is and show that change is possible for all of us!

We’re working with some of Britain’s most experienced and well-known psychotherapists.

Now we are looking for the people who would benefit from their help, who would also be happy for us to film them having therapy for the series.

Do you need help with: Anxiety, grief, anger, confidence, stress-management, family issues, intimate relationships, a life transition, depression, low self-esteem, communication, or coping skills?

We would love to have a no obligation chat with you about what’s involved in taking part.

Therapy FAQ’s

What is the tone of the series? The tone is heart-warming and honest. We want to feature relatable human stories which will be filmed observationally and told with integrity and with professional insight from our therapists to help us understand the human mind. We want to show that change is possible for all of us.

Who are the therapists? We are working with some of the most respected and high-profile therapists in the country. They are all BACP accredited, and several of them have published books in their areas of specialism. We are unable to release their names at this stage but if selected to take part you will be given their full details before starting therapy.

What about patient confidentiality? Therapy sessions are usually confidential, but the purpose of this documentary series is to demystify the therapy process by showing real people having real therapy. Before filming, we will ask you to sign a release form that waives your right to therapist / patient confidentiality during the therapy session.

However, not everything that we film will be used in the series. There may be situations where you reveal highly sensitive information or discuss other people in the therapy room which might not be appropriate for broadcast. We will discuss our expectations for your contribution in advance of filming and maintain a continued dialogue throughout the process.

How many sessions will I need, and will I need to pay for them? The therapy is completely free of charge. We will cover the cost of up to six sessions based on what your therapist (and you) feel is appropriate for your needs.  This will be agreed with you in advance.

How will it be filmed? We use remote control cameras inside the therapy room so you will be alone with your therapist inside the room. The cameras are very discreet so you should quickly forget that they are even there.

We filmed a test episode earlier in the year as part of the series development and everyone involved told us how comfortable they felt during the process.

Outside of the room itself, we will film shots of you arriving and leaving which will be shot by one of our shooting producers.

We may also film a sit-down chat with you before and at regular points through-out the process to get to know you better and gain insight into your experience of having therapy.

When will it be filmed?  We anticipate filming the therapy sessions over a six-week period in January and February 2025 (with therapy sessions occurring at a frequency of one per week).

Where will filming take place? We are hoping to film the series in Bristol; however we want to hear from people all over the UK so please don’t worry about the logistics of getting to Bristol. We will book and cover the cost of your travel for all filming.

Are any other expenses covered? We will also cover your subsistence (food and drink) on travel and filming days. Should you be required to be away from home to take part in filming then you will be provided with a hotel room with breakfast included. Exact details of this will be confirmed with you in advance.

What are the next steps? Once you have dropped us an email a member of our team will give you a call for a no obligation chat so you can have a think about taking part. If you are reading this as part of our automated email reply, then you don’t need to do anything else!

Please note we aim to respond to all emails, but this might not always be possible.
